Jessica Arafiles:
Camp Director
Jessica serves as our Camp Director. She has been working at summer camps since 2015 and has been a part of Second Star Children’s Camp (previously Camp Bangarang) since the beginning. She has been a recreational program staff, a program director, and a dedicated volunteer. She currently works as a special education teacher in the Chicago suburbs and coaches high school girls softball. Jessica is passionate about working with kids and making camp magic! Jessica graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Cross Categorical Special Education, and received her masters in Special Education from the American College of Education. Jessica and her husband Dmarte live in Villa Park, Illinois with their sweet pup Luna.

Frannie Cade:
Development Specialist
Frannie is a Special Education teacher in the suburbs of Chicago with a previous career as a Non-Profit Fundraiser. She has been working with summer camps since 2014 and has also been with Second Star Children’s Camp since the beginning. Frannie has served many charities as a Grant Writer and Fundraiser. Frannie attended University of Missouri where she received her Bachelors in Health Sciences and Masters in Public Affairs focusing in Non-Profit Management.

Mark Sigel:
Senior Camp Staff
Mark has been working in camps in the non-profit sector since 2002. He has worked as a Camp Counselor, Medication Aid, Program Specialist, Residential Life Coordinator, Assistant Director, and Camp Director. Over the years, Mark has worked with, Chicago area Park Districts, the YMCA, Camp Courageous of Iowa, and the Serious Fun Children’s Network. He has also served as a volunteer with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Make-a- Wish and The ARC of East Central Iowa. Mark and his wife Krista live in Cedar Rapids, IA with their son Declan and Dog Moxy, Maeve, and Hamish.

Andrew Opdyke:
President
Andrew worked with children with special needs throughout college and has a passion for serving others. Andrew has a B.A. from Hope College, majoring in Business Management and Communications and a MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with a focus in finance and economics. Andrew’s past experience includes work as a Project Manager, Department Head, and Director of Mobile and Multimedia Operations at various internet consulting firms. Andrew currently works as an Economist at First Trust Advisers, an investment research and advisory firm based in Wheaton, IL. Andrew lives in Lombard, IL with his wife Kate and two kids.
Joe Hamilton:
Vice President
Joe Hamilton has been a firefighter/paramedic for 10 years with the Elk Grove Village Fire Department in Illinois. After years of volunteering at camps for children and adults with special needs, he’s excited to join the Second Star Camp team! Joe attended the University of Illinois and received his degree in Economics. Joe currently lives with his wife Courtney in Chicago, Illinois.
Sarah Cullen:
Treasurer & Secretary
Sarah Cullen is an audit manager with a public accounting firm, Miller Cooper & Co., Ltd., Deerfield, Illinois, serving the Chicagoland area. Sarah has experience servicing clients in a wide variety of industries including construction, hospitality, distribution, not-for-profit and employee benefit plans. Sarah is a graduate of Illinois State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Professional Accountancy. Shortly after graduation Sarah passed the Certified Public Accountant exam. Sarah lives in Naperville, IL with her husband, Ryan and son.
Zachary Frankenbach:
Board Member
Zach is an attorney licensed to practice in Illinois. He received his Juris Doctorate and LLM in Employee Benefits from The John Marshall Law School. Zach was previously a member of the not-for-profit group, the Chicago Irish Brotherhood. He currently works for Teamsters Local 727, and he lives in Lombard, IL with his wife Michelle and two children.
Kristin Dicken:
Board Member
Kristin works as an Assistant Branch Mgr. with US Bank in the Cedar Rapids area. Kristin is a graduate from the University of Northern Iowa and has been involved with volunteering with The National T.T.T. Society, the German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Iowa, Autism Speaks, and Second Star Camp! Kristin lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband and dogs.
Steve Wolff:
Board Member
Steve works as a Senior Vice President of Operations for Wheels Inc, a fleet management company. Steve is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with both a Bachelors degree and an MBA. Steve has been involved with supporting Second Star for the last several years and resides in Chicago.
